Ride on through wet of wood, over moss and softest earth
Past leaves of Birch and branches Oak and wide

Through Summer orange and sweet with smoke
Through the gold and fire of Autumn
Through the Winter white and cold
To the hill beyond the seasons, where all trees and forests grow
Crowned by a clearing
Home to an altar of wood and stone
Approach the open slowly
Beneath an eyeless owl and crow
Come to the altar and read allowed the words inscribed
Once the words are spoken ye shall meet with meaning
Solitary reverence in a shrine of air and soil:
“Rest here your head o weary traveler
Who has ridden past the place of seasons
And entered the great ring of trees
Rest your head here and find your peace
Beneath the great gray ghost and the hooded carrion crow
Lay down thy head here and speak allowed that which you seek
Lay thy head down here you who’ve come to die”
Upon the altar
My legs turn to grasses
My arms to leaves and branches
From my mouth the purest waters flow
My body moist moss and darkest soil
From my heart the great roots grow
Descend Strix Nebulosa
Come down Corvus Corone
Blossoms from the empty sockets burst and blow
With new sight the birds take flight across the seasons
And with their wings they chase the day and night
When they return a lake and a wreath of flowers
From which sprouts the tallest Oak
In its boughs they watch the tree line
In each beak a single eye
As the forest spreads and calls to travelers
Who seek the other side of life

Rigid glass in waves

Waves of bitterness
Waves to raze a heart
Lacerate my body
Tear away at my soul
No trace of memory left – there is no mercy in my breath
Whilst blackness swallows the shore
As it eats the sand, so my being erodes
I am steam and I am smoke
A temporal haze to dissipate with fate
Bound, made sacrifice and buried in the sky
I come to the apex ready
For a realm beyond the reach of sails
Blind in twilight ink
Where lies the night of gods
Encircled in splendor
Meaningless
Infinite
Terrible and radiant
Where existence cannot prevail
